Marble City Pharmacy - Compounding
Back as far as the time of Moses in the Bible, trained professionals were mixing chemicals (such as plant extracts) to get a final product (such as an ointment) that would achieve a desired effect. Though this is generally a lost art, there are still some pharmacists who see a continued need for this type of service and seek the training to be able to perform it. These pharmacists are called compounding pharmacists, and we have three of them here at Marble City Pharmacy.
James, Jacob, and Danny have all been specially trained in the art of compounding medications and have a combined 81 years of compounding experience. Because of this, Marble City Pharmacy is able to provide our patients with compounded medications when their doctors prescribe them. We have the proper equipment to make most types of non-sterile compounds, such as creams/ointments, transdermal gels, liquids, capsules, etc.
Compounded medications are appropriate for many patients in the treatment of conditions that are not responding well to standard medications, and we can make a recommendation to your doctor for a product that may be right for you. We bill most insurances for compounds, to the extent that each individual insurance plan allows for it.
